Owens Co-Sponsors the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) co-sponsored the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act, bipartisan legislation to allow Americans to use 529 education savings accounts for skills training, credentialing, and certification programs. Current law only permits workers and families to use 529 accounts to pay for college, university, and vocational school expenses.
“Career and technical education is a key driver of America’s economic growth,” said Rep. Owens. “As the Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee, I’m proud to support the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act to provide equal opportunities for young Americans to succeed in the classroom and jumpstart the careers of their dreams.”
