Owens to Root Out DEI in Higher Education
WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, May 21, at 10:15 a.m. ET, Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee Chairman Burgess Owens (R-UT) will hold a hearing titled “Restoring Excellence: The Case Against DEI.”
“DEI isn’t about opportunity—it’s a Marxist ideology that divides Americans, punishes merit, and weakens our institutions from within,” said Chair Owens. “From medical schools to college campuses, DEI has replaced excellence with activism and left students—especially those it claims to help—worse off. Our subcommittee will continue exposing the real-world consequences of DEI and fighting to restore merit, accountability, and true opportunity to higher education.”
