WASHINGTON — On Pioneer Day, Congressman Burgess Owens (UT-04) introduced the Saratoga Springs Post Office Act, legislation that will transfer roughly 20 acres of unused federal land to the U.S. Postal Service for the construction of a new post office in Saratoga Springs, Utah. The bill ensures the facility is built and operational within two years.
“Utahns in Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, and Lehi have been forced to rely on a single, overcrowded post office, which is unacceptable for one of the fastest-growing regions in the country,”said Rep. Owens.“Since 2021, I’ve been fighting to fix it, listening to constituents impacted and bringing these issues to the highest levels of government. On Pioneer Day, I’m proud to introduce a common sense solution: legislation to build a new post office in Saratoga Springs, which will deliver faster service, shorter lines, and the modern infrastructure our communities deserve.”
“The Mayor and City Council of Saratoga Springs express their sincere gratitude to Congressman Owens and his dedicated staff for the many hours they have invested in advancing the Saratoga Springs Post Office Act,”said Saratoga Springs Mayor Jim Miller.“This legislation addresses a longstanding need in our community and reflects years of collaboration with our congressional delegation. Once enacted, the bill will bring essential postal services to Saratoga Springs and our neighboring communities, supporting the needs of our growing population.”
“As we only have one post office currently serving all of Lehi, Eagle Mountain, and Saratoga Springs, we are extremely grateful to Rep. Burgess Owens for introducing the ‘Saratoga Springs Post Office Act,’ which will construct a new post office serving northern Utah County,”saidLehi Mayor Mark Johnson. “Our population is booming and we are in desperate need of an additional post office to ensure that residents continue to have timely mail delivery and access to critical services.”
“I fully support the establishment of a post office in Saratoga Springs. Eagle Mountain residents have long needed a more conveniently located facility, and this is a step in the right direction for our growing region,”said Eagle Mountain Mayor Tom Westmoreland.
Background:
The Saratoga Springs Post Office Act transfers jurisdiction of 20.32 acres of BLM land to the U.S. Postal Service.
The bill requires the USPS to construct and begin operations of a new post office within two years of enactment.
The parcel is located west of Mountain View Corridor and north of SR-73, with access off Wild Blossom Boulevard.
Northern Utah County remains one of the fastest-growing regions in the state, yet is currently served by only one post office.
