Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) led several members in a resolution to censure Rep. Maxine Waters for her demonstrably false allegations that Border Patrol officials were ‘‘whipping’’ Haitian individuals illegally crossing the Southern border in Del Rio, Texas.

“Rep. Waters’ inflammatory allegations defamed the brave men and women of our U.S. Border Patrol who work day and night to secure America’s open borders and belittled those who endured the horrors of slavery,” said Rep. Owens. “These comments are beneath the dignity of public service, and Rep. Waters should apologize immediately.”

Reps. Scott Perry (R-PA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Yvette Herrell (R-NM), Jeff Duncan (R-NC), Bob Good (R-VA), Jody Hice (R-GA), Kat Cammack (R-FL), and Brian Babin (R-TX) signed onto the resolution.
