Owens Helps Reintroduce the Parents Bill of Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) helped reintroduce the Parents Bill of Rights, delivering on a key promise of the Commitment to America and establishing concrete legal protections to ensure parents always have a seat at the table when it comes to their child’s education.

“As a father of 6 and grandfather to 16, I know from experience that parental involvement is the cornerstone of a child’s success in the classroom,” said Rep. Owens. “In our Commitment to America, House Republicans promised to pass the Parents Bill of Rights and stand up against recent attempts to push moms and dads out of the driver’s seat. I am proud to help reintroduce this commonsense legislation and will work tirelessly to champion the God-given rights of America’s parents.”

The legislation is built on five common-sense principles.

  1. Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.
  2. Parents have the right to be heard.
  3. Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.
  4. Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.
  5. Parents have the right to keep their children safe.
