Owens Co-Sponsors The Life at Conception Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act, legislation to require the protection of the unborn under the 14th Amendment, which grants all citizens equal protection under the law and prevents them from being deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. As a result, unborn babies would be entitled to legal protection under the Constitution as enforced by the states. This legislation would also set a standard for promoting and encouraging a culture of life.

“Every child – both born and unborn – is a precious gift from God and deserves a chance to live,” said Rep. Owens. “The Life at Conception Act protects the lives of defenseless unborn babies and underscores one of our nation’s fundamental principles: the Right to Life. As a father of 6 and grandfather to 16, I am proud to support this legislation and will never stop fighting for the rights of our most vulnerable.”
