Owens Co-Sponsors Legislation to Protect Hunting, Fishing Access for Sportsmen

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) co-sponsored the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act of 2022, legislation to prohibit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from banning the use of traditional lead ammunition or tackle on public lands unless such action is supported by the best available science and state wildlife and fish agencies.

“Utahns have always enjoyed the great outdoors, and any attempt to limit their ability to responsibly hunt and fish is alarming, overreaching, and inconsistent with our state’s laws,” said Rep. Owens. “I am proud to support the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act of 2022 to prevent this blanket ban on ammo and tackle on federal lands and any action that impedes the rights of America’s sportsmen and women.”
