Owens Backs Bipartisan Bicameral Agreement to Extend School and Summer Meals for Kids

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, co-sponsored the Keep Kids Fed Act, legislation to help schools weather learning disruptions, supply chain challenges, and four-decade high inflation through targeted and temporary aid.

“Summer is the hungriest time of year for over 11 million children in America facing food insecurity,” said Rep. Owens. “The programs that provide affordable and accessible meals are set to expire at the end of the month, leaving far too many students without a reliable food source. I am proud to support the Keep Kids Fed Act to ensure that no child in America goes hungry, and I urge Congress to come together and pass this important legislation.”

This morning, Rep. Owens spoke on the House Floor in support of the bill. Full remarks are available here. The full text of the Keep Kids Fed Act is available here.
