WASHINGTON, D.C. Education and Workforce Committee Vice Chair Burgess Owens (R-UT) successfully advanced the Say No to Indoctrination Act out of the House Education and Workforce Committee. The legislation codifies President Trump’s Executive Order issued on January 20, 2025, ensuring that no school receiving federal funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act may use those funds to teach or promote radical gender ideology.

“Parents deserve to know that their children’s schools are focused on education, not activism,” said Rep. Owens. “The Say No to Indoctrination Act codifies President Trump’s agenda and ensures that federal funds are used to improve academic outcomes—not to push radical gender ideology on kids. We’re fighting to put parents back in control, restore truth in the classroom, and put an end to taxpayer-funded indoctrination once and for all.”

The Say No to Indoctrination Act amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to prohibit the use of federal funds to push radical gender ideology and affirms that:

  1. There are only two sexes: male and female.
  2. Sex is a biological classification and not subject to gender identity ideologies.
  3. A boy is a boy. A girl is a girl.
  4. Gender ideology is disconnected from biological reality.
