Here in Utah, thousands of families are feeling the impact of the ongoing Democrat Shutdown.
Because the Senate has refused to pass the clean, bipartisan bill that already cleared the House, 86,000 Utah households, and 42 million Americans nationwide, did not receive their SNAP benefits on November 1.
That means thousands of Utah parents are facing impossible choices about how to keep food on the table while the federal government remains closed because of Senate Democrats. Across the country, food banks are straining to meet demand, and programs that support mothers, children, and seniors, like WIC, are at risk.
I’m thankful to President Trump and his administration for doing everything he can to help Americans during the Democrat Shutdown. But enough is enough – Democrats must open the government NOW.
The House’s clean CR doesn’t include new spending or partisan policy changes. It simply keeps the government open, pays our service members, and restores funding for essential programs like SNAP and WIC.
But Democrats in the Senate have voted 14 times against the CR, keeping the government closed while calling the pain “leverage.”
Every day this shutdown continues, more families are caught in the crossfire. It’s time to put politics aside, reopen the government, and put the American people first.
Team Owens joined volunteers at Saint Andrew Food Pantry to help deliver food and essentials to nearly 200 Utah families. Across the country, food banks are being pushed to their limits as millions of seniors, children, and working parents lose the benefits they depend on.
5 Senate Democrats could end this shutdown today.
