Congressman Owens and Secretary McMahon will visit SiriusXM’s Patriot Channel, SLAM Miami Charter School

Miami, FL — Congressman Burgess Owens (UT-04) will officially launch his national “Our Children First” tour on Friday, May 2, 2025, with two flagship events in Miami spotlighting the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) and celebrating the growing movement for educational freedom.

The day begins with a special appearance on “The David Webb Show,” which airs weekdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125. On Friday, Webb’s broadcast will include a dedicated live audience event from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET, focused on educational opportunity and the future of American students. Congressman Owens and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon will join Webb for this conversation in front of a studio audience of parents and families impacted by school choice.

Following the studio event, Congressman Owens, Secretary McMahon, and David Webb will visit SLAM Miami—one of the nation’s leading charter schools—for a student-led tour and a second live broadcast on SLAM Radio (SiriusXM Channel 145). The broadcast will feature interviews conducted by SLAM students and showcase how educational choice is transforming lives.

Congressman Owens issued the following statement:

“Every child in America deserves the freedom to pursue their dreams through an education that fits their needs—not one assigned by their ZIP code. ‘Our Children First’ is about restoring hope, empowering families, and investing in the next generation of leaders. Secretary McMahon’s tireless commitment to America’s children is an inspiration. I’m grateful she will be joining us for the launch of this important tour to ensure that parents—not bureaucracies—have the final say in their children’s future.”

The Educational Choice for Children Act, championed by Congressman Owens, would establish a $10 billion annual federal tax credit to fund K–12 scholarships without cutting public education dollars or imposing new federal mandates. Families could use scholarships for private school tuition, tutoring, homeschool expenses, special needs services, online courses, and more.
