Chairman Owens to Hold Hearing on Strengthening the Workforce Development System

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, September 20, at 10:15 a.m., the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), will hold a hearing titled “Strengthening WIOA: Improving Outcomes for Jobseekers, Employers, and Taxpayers.”
 
“It’s been nearly a decade since the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was enacted, and while America’s workforce is stronger because of this law, meaningful updates are needed. I continue to hear how all employers, from small businesses to corporate conglomerates, are struggling to fill millions of job openings”, Chairman Owens said. “We must refine the current WIOA system, build upon what works, and discard what doesn’t, in order to build a system that better suits the needs of our 21st century economy.”
