May 22, 2024Education & Workforce Development
WASHINGTON — On Thursday, May 23, at 9:45 a.m. ET, Higher Education and Workforce Development Chair Burgess Owens (UT-04) will participate in a full Committee hearing with the presidents of Northwestern, Rutgers, and UCLA titled “Calling for Accountability: Stopping Antisemitic College Chaos.”
“From California to New York, America’s college and university campuses have descended into anti-Israel anarchy,” said Rep. Owens. “Despite praising terrorist organizations, calling for violence against Jews, and advocating for the destruction of the democratic state of Israel, these students are coddled and appeased rather than arrested and expelled. Our committee does not tolerate this antisemitic hate or the cowardice of campus leadership, and we will not rest until America’s higher education system is once again a safe place for Jewish students.”
