WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04), alongside over 100 colleagues, co-sponsored the Ukrainian Independence Park Act, bipartisan legislation to dedicate a park in Washington D.C. to the Ukrainian-American community as a symbolic gesture of our nation’s support for Ukraine’s independence, freedom, and sovereignty.

“As Putin wages a violent war on a sovereign nation and murders innocent men, women, and children, President Zelenskyy and the freedom-loving people of Ukrainian have demonstrated incredible resolve and bravery,” said Rep. Owens. “The USA stands with Ukraine in their fight for freedom, and I’m proud to join this effort to signify our unwavering support.”

This legislation is endorsed by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council, U.S-Ukraine Foundation, Ukrainian American Bar Association, Ukrainian American Citizens’ Association, Ukrainian American Credit Union Association, Ukrainian National Association, Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Evangelical Environmental Network, Airbnb, and the National Parks Conservation Association.
