WEST JORDAN, UT — Congressman Burgess Owens today announced key additions to his senior staff, strengthening the leadership team that supports his work on behalf of Utah’s Fourth Congressional District and the nation.
Devon Murphy Promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff
Congressman Owens announced the promotion of Devon Murphy to Deputy Chief of Staff, in addition to his continued service as Legislative Director. Murphy is a veteran of the Utah Army National Guard and a long-time congressional staffer who has played a central role in advancing Congressman Owens’ legislative priorities.
“There is no better staffer and friend than Devon Murphy,” said Lee Lonsberry, Chief of Staff.
“Devon has led my legislative team with precision and excellence,” said Congressman Owens. “This promotion was a no-brainer.”
“I’m honored by the confidence Congressman Owens has placed in me to lead his legislative agenda, deliver results for Utah’s Fourth District, and advance President Trump’s America First agenda,” said Devon Murphy.
In his expanded role, Murphy will take on additional responsibilities supporting the strategic, operational, and legislative work of the office, continuing his record of disciplined leadership and service.
Colby Walker Named Communications Director
Congressman Owens also announced that Colby Walker will serve as Communications Director. Walker joins the Owens office after serving as State Communications Specialist for Senator Mike Lee. Prior to his time in the U.S. Senate, Walker worked as a digital content producer for KSL. He is a Utah native with deep roots in the state and extensive experience in political and media communications.
“I’ve known and worked with Colby for many years, both in the office of Senator Lee and at KSL. He is a good man with sharp instincts and a strategic mind, and he will serve Congressman Owens in exactly the right way.”
“Colby’s track record and reputation are exceptional,” said Congressman Owens. “I have observed the work he has done, and his heart and ability are a perfect match for my office. The work he will do on behalf of my office and Utah’s Fourth Congressional District will be invaluable and a great service. I’m thrilled he is joining my team.”
“I am deeply humbled by this opportunity to work for Congressman Owens and to continue serving the people of Utah in this new role,” Walker said. “Congressman Owens’ focus on limited government, education, and personal responsibility resonates strongly with me, and I’m excited for the work we have ahead of us.”
As Communications Director, Walker will oversee all communications strategy, media relations, and messaging for the Owens office.
