The Utah Congressional Delegation is excited to announce the America 250 Speech Contest in celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday in 2026. This is a special opportunity for young people to reflect on the unique history and values that have shaped our great country—and to have their words shared in our Nation’s Capitol.
Eligibility and Speech Requirements: High school students in Utah’s Fourth District (grades 9–12) are invited to submit a 2-minute speech on the theme: “What America Means to Me.”
Important Dates: The contest opens on August 18, 2025, and closes on November 24, 2025.
Submission Process: Each district may submit one winning speech per participating high school by November 24, 2025.
Recognition and Prizes: One statewide winner will be selected and notified directly. The winning speech will be read on the U.S. House floor in January 2026. In addition, three students will receive honorable mention awards from the delegation. All district-level winners will receive a special letter recognizing their contributions and will have the opportunity to present their speeches at the Utah State Capitol in January 2026. A special recognition ceremony for the statewide winner and honorable mentions will be held in February 2026 in the district.
