Today, Congressman Bill Owens was sworn in as Representative for the newly drawn 21st congressional district of New York.

“I am excited to return to Congress in service to New York and hopeful for what we can accomplish in the months ahead,” said Owens.  “Our congressional district spans over 16,000 square miles of New York State.  However, throughout the district the issues remain very much the same: creating jobs, building an environment where small businesses and family farmers can get ahead and helping New York take advantage of every opportunity to grow the local economy.”

New York’s 21st Congressional District encompasses twelve counties, including all of Clinton, Essex, Franklin,  Fulton, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence , Warren and Washington county, and portions of Herkimer and Saratoga county.  In addition to existing offices in Plattsburgh and Watertown, Congressman Owens announced he would soon open an office in Glens Falls, NY.

“I will continue to travel the district and stay in touch so I can better represent the district in Washington,” said Owens.  “In addition, I encourage residents of the 21st district to let me know when they encounter problems with the federal government or want to share ideas for how we can better our community.  My door is always open.”

Congressman Owens moved to Plattsburgh, New York over 30 years ago to serve at Plattsburgh Air Force base.  After completing his military service, he remained in Plattsburgh to run a business and raise a family with his wife, Jane.  This is his third term in Congress.
