Bipartisan Upstate Delegation Will Sit Together at State of the Union

Owens pleased to continue tradition with Dem, GOP Reps

WASHINGTON – Tomorrow night, Congressman Bill Owens will join a bipartisan delegation of Upstate New York Members of Congress to sit together during the President’s annual State of the Union address. Members of the delegation will include Representatives Brian Higgins (NY-27), Paul Tonko (NY-21), Tom Reed (NY-29), Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25), Chris Gibson (NY-20), Richard Hanna (NY-24), and Kathy Hochul (NY-26).

Tomorrow night, Congressman Bill Owens will join a bipartisan delegation of Upstate New York Members of Congress to sit together during the President’s annual State of the Union address.  Members of the delegation will include Representatives Brian Higgins (NY-27), Paul Tonko (NY-21), Tom Reed (NY-29), Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25), Chris Gibson (NY-20), Richard Hanna (NY-24), and Kathy Hochul (NY-26).

“While this is a small step toward bipartisanship, I believe Congress has a historic opportunity to come together and work for what is best for New York and the rest of the nation,” Owens said. “I hope to continue working with members of both parties to create opportunities for New York’s working families and small business owners.”

Rep. Owens is a member of the Congressional Center Aisle Caucus, a bipartisan group of Members of Congress who have a strong interest in promoting civility and changing the tone in Washington. 

A similar bipartisan group sat together for last year’s State of the Union speech.
