Congressman Bill Owens released the following statement in advance of a vote tonight in the U.S. House of Representatives that would extend the payroll tax cut for two months.

“I hope that the House will act responsibly this evening and extend the payroll tax cut for 160 million Americans.  This bill passed the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support and should pass the House tonight with ease. If Republican House leadership is serious about solving this problem, we will pass this bill tonight and have legislation ready to go when Congress returns in January.  I plan to support this bill tonight and believe that we should address no other legislation until a one-year extension of this middle-class tax cut is brought to the floor and passed next year,” said Owens.
