Washington, Nov 10, 2011 - PLATTSBURGH – Congressman Bill Owens released the following statement regarding tomorrow’s observance of Veterans Day.

“America owes a great deal to those who have served in the Armed Forces.  Veterans Day provides an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the selfless sacrifice of America’s heroes and the work that remains to ensure they are afforded the benefits they have earned.”

“As the Representative for a Congressional District with over 55,000 veterans, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of those who have served, as well as many in the Fort Drum community carrying on the tradition today.  Having served in the U.S. Air Force, I am proud of what this nation has accomplished not only to defend its citizens but also to help achieve a safer, freer world for future generations.  Today, my thoughts are with those who served in all of America’s conflicts, and the military families who sacrificed with them throughout their service to the country.”
